There is so much pressure on discovering yourself. What do you want to do? What do you want to wear? What haircut do you have?
It feels like it's all a bit much. Choosing what you're going to do with the rest of your life at such a young age.
My question is, why do you have to be locked into every decision that you are making? That is where the pressure lies; we are under the impression that everything is kind of a permanent decision. I think this is where discouragement and doubt sets in. When something doesn't go as planned, the immediate response is doubt. Avoiding all cliches regarding "going with the flow," just do what puts you closer to being the person that you want to be. Ultimately, who do you want to be?
We are capable of guiding our lives in whatever direction fits us. There is no reason that the job you choose now has to be the job you have in fifteen years and there is no reason that your style has to be consistent for the rest of your life.
The beauty in all of this is that people have complete control over how their life pans out, kind of. I am a firm believer in the saying, "if you don't like it, change it." Something that I have learned the hard way is that you should never settle. You have a limited number of days on this earth and settling for something less than what you want is not and should never be an option.
I am trying this new thing where I try to make it so that everything that I do is a stepping stone to my ultimate goal. Starting here, now, with this. Figure out what you like and dislike. Decide what makes you happy rather than what will make you the most money. Find something that fits the person that you always dreamed of being.
But hey, what do I know? I am just an 18 year old kid with a computer. But, this is who I am.
So who are you?
