My music professor says some of the most brilliant things on a daily basis, but today he really laid it all out there. It wasn't the fact that he went to Julliard or that he has been a soloist in countless orchestras across the nation; all he did was tell us the story about how he got his viola. It is a BEAUTIFUL viola that he waited 18 years to obtain. He had confronted the owner about buying it every year since he set his eyes on it but the owner would not budge. Long story short, he finally got the viola. The inspiring part was not just his persistence but it was the way that he talked about it. He gave up a huge chunk of money for this viola, he wouldn't say how much but he did say that it took a couple of loans and some refinancing. Now comes the part that made me rethink everything that I have ever done. "Sometimes in life there is a risk you've got to take. I put my money on the line. When you've got a dream, you've got to put everything on the line."
Why am I just sitting here waiting for an opportunity to just pop up? Who has ever sat watching Netflix for far too many hours and then an amazing opportunity arises in between episodes? Nobody.
If I want to write, I should write. If I want to pick up the guitar again, I should. Nothing is going to happen by waiting, you have to find it. I have never known what I was supposed to do with my life. All I know is that I have a passion for writing whether is is this nonsense here or scribbled in the pages in my journal. And music, though I will never be on the performing side I am fascinated with every aspect of it. I just want to be around it. I don't know what that means for me, maybe those passions will collide in an amazing way somewhere down the line but I wont ever know until I try something.
